This course is offered to students who wish to study either Health and Social Care or Child Care and find out what it is like to work in a care setting. You will gain an insight into your own skills and abilities and, develop your communication skills to support you working with a range of people.
This course will allow progression on to Level 2 courses or apprenticeships. Studying level 1 introduces the skills, qualities and knowledge that will be required for employment in a health and social care setting.
Units include Health and Social care needs, Communication, Promoting Healthy Eating in Care, Job Opportunities in Health, and Social Care and Creative and Leisure Activities for Children and Adults.
The level 1 qualification will be delivered through taught and practical sessions.

Maths and English qualifications
Assessment will be through assignments, practical’s, presentations, and discussions.
No formal qualifications are needed to gain entry; however, learners must have a keen interest in working within the sector and be working at entry level for Maths/English.
It is a requirement of this course that all learners complete a DBS check before they are allowed out on their work experience.
